After all, partnering with a reliable service provider is indeed indispensable. You can’t just choose any web host as it can have strong magnitudes of impact on your business, which are irredeemable.

Security Features

Here is a glimpse of what both the service providers promise of offer to the customers:

Godaddy Security Services:

GoDaddy offers web security services for customers to protect their sensitive information from viruses, hackers, and identity thieves.

You can count on their three different options:

SSL certification: You can secure one website and all its subdomains. However, they offer three different plans under this category and you can choose the best for your requirement. Here are the plans:

Sitelock Malware Scanner: Another awesome security feature as it automatically scans your website and keeps hackers at bay. The basic plans starts from as low as Rs 109/month. That’s quite a dirt cheap price. It scans up to 500 of your website’s sub-pages to instantly find out network susceptibilities and eliminates malware.

Code and Driver Signing Certifications: This SSL certificate is used to sign software installation setups.

Bigrock Security Services:

BigRock provides high sophisticated and secured server with regular server monitoring and health check-up.

CodeGuard Cloud Backup: It is highly intuitive and works behind the screen. In addition, it also takes automatic backups. Here are some the plans offered by the company:

Note: Both the service providers offer top-class web security services. So, it’s a tie here.

Server Uptime:

Godaddy’s Server Uptime:

Website network uptime is one of the most critical aspects of a hosting provision.

If your website remains down for long, clients or customers will be unable to access your products or services, which mean huge business loss.

No businessman wants to come across such challenging situation.

Fortunately, GoDaddy is quite reliable and promises to provide up to 99.9% guaranteed uptime.

Data centres for GoDaddy customers are based in the US, Europe and Asia, almost covering more than 70,000 square feet. They make use of redundant UPS power and N+1 air conditioning, fire protection and 24/7 onsite monitoring.

Website hosting customers  websites are backed up incrementally at predefined interims, in conjunction with complete backups on a reduced amount of frequent basis.

GoDaddy insists on the very fact that the backups are stored away from the data centre in case of any glitches onsite.

I used a website monitoring tool to track the performance speed of the websites that are hosted on GoDaddy. Here is the result of the test.

Godaddy uptime

During the month I monitored the website hosted with Godaddy received 100% uptime.

Bigrock’s Server Uptime:

BigRock promises to 99.9% of network uptime to their customer.

As per the online research, I have found that BigRock is really doing well in this domain and customers are very much satisfied with services offered by the service provider.

To throw more light on the overall performance parameters, I did some analysis through tools which revealed the following results:

Bigrock uptime

Above is the screenshot of Bigrock’s uptime. In uptime section, both web hosts are doing good and offering uptime as per their promise i.e above 99.9%.

Customer support services:

Godaddy’s customer support:

Definitely, Godaddy is a well-established and renowned name in the hosting industry but I was bit surprised to find that out- they have strong telephone customer support services and not the live chat support.

Here is the briefing of my personal experience:

Telephone support

When I placed a call on a weekday on given support number and spoke to their customer service executive he immediately resolved the issue within a minute time frame. I asked him about the Linux and WordPress hosting services, and my experience was really good. Their executives hold in-depth knowledge and help you in deciding the right service plan.

Update: My recent experience with Godaddy’s customer support was not good. One of my sites is hosted on their Europen data center. Suddenly, it started getting this message “error establishing a database connection”.

Without wasting any more time, I picked up my cell phone and dial their Indian customer support number. Within 2 minutes of wait time,  I connected to their support team. The person on the other side was listing to my problem with patience. Below is the error my site was getting.

Godaddy Database error

The error message clearly shows that the problem was with their database server but they were not ready to admit that. Instead, they suggested me to do some changes in my config.php file. I was on the call for 63 minutes but the problem was not resolved. I didn’t

Instead, they suggested me to do some changes in my config.php file. I was on the call for 63 minutes but the problem was not resolved.

I didn’t make any change on my website (even there was insisting me to do so) because I was confident that the problem is with their servers. After few ours the problem got resolved automatically. It seems their technical team fixed up the server issue.

After few ours the problem got resolved automatically. It seems their technical team fixed up the server issue.

I won’t say their support team is bad but this incident gives me a surprise that why the heck they were blaming my site for the issue instead of admitting that the problem is on their end and they will resolve it.

P.S: My site is still hosted on their servers and working fine.

Live Chat support

After this, I tried to look for live chat support services there but the support service was not available.

It’s surprising literally as how could such a big company not provide live chat support 24*7.

What if a customer can’t speak to them due to any reason and want to find out about the services through chat.

This is what I found on their website:

Godaddy chat support

Bigrock’s Customer Support:

Even, Bigrock team has been quite good in handling customer queries, and they even provide live chat support services but for sales. You need to raise a ticket in case you are facing any trouble in the services offered by the company. Here is also a tie between the two.

You need to raise a ticket in case you are facing any trouble in the services offered by the company. Here is also a tie between the two.

Let’s have a look at the other important factors before going into a conclusion.

Money-Back Guarantee

Godaddy:

Godaddy provides 45 days money-back guarantee in any of its web hosting services.

Bigrock:

While on the other hand, Bigrock provides 30 day Money Back Guarantee.

Here in this case definitely Godaddy is a true winner

Refund policy:

Godaddy:

The company provides standard refund policies in which the amount of product purchased from them will be refunded, provided you cancel the services within the following timeframe:

  • Annual Plans – Within 30 days of the date of the transaction
  • Monthly Plans* – Within 48 hours of the date of the transaction.

*Monthly Plans include all plans with less than a 1-year term (e.g., 6 mos., 9 mos., etc.)

Bigrock:

The company provides a refund within 30 days from the date of purchase of the product.

Migration services:

Godaddy: It is a self-service, but if you need expert assistance that is chargeable.

Bigrock: In the case of Bigrock. The website transfer is also chargable.

Final Verdict: Who is the Winner “Bigrock or Godaddy“?

Both the companies are the best possible options for website hosting services, however, after weighing down each and every point as mentioned above I would certainly recommend people to go ahead with Godaddy.

They are into this business for years and offering top notch services at reasonable cost.

They also offer great offers to all new customers. This web hosting offer is my personal favorite.

In contrast, Bigrock also offers reasonably priced services. For instance, domain prices at Bigrock you may find cheap for the initial one 1st year only after that it won’t be, while Godaddy pricing is affordable even after 1st year (for some services).

All-in-all, I would say Godaddy really got much more to offer on the table, be it great discounts, network uptime or customer support services.
