Godaddy Economy vs Deluxe vs Ultimate Comparison

Godaddy is one of the most preferred choices for the web hosting services among the website owners. But sometimes it becomes confusing which web hosting plan someone should pick since Godaddy offers 3 different web hosting plans i.e Economy, Deluxe, and Ultimate.

In this article, we will not only compare the Godaddy hosting plans but will also help you choose the right web hosting plan for your website.

So let’s start the Godaddy Economy vs Deluxe vs Ultimate plan comparison.

godaddy economy vs deluxe ultimate

Which Plan For What Purpose?

Economy

Godaddy’s Economy plan is the entry-level plan from Godaddy. This plan is suitable for hosting a single website. We ourselves are using this plan for so many of our sites and we’re quite satisfied with the performance of this plan.

You can choose between the Linux and Windows operating systems as per your requirements.

You should choose this plan only when you just want to host a single website and don’t have a plan to launch any new site in the near future.

The plan comes with a resource limit of 1 CPU, 512 MB RAM, 100 Entry processes, and 250,000 Files limit.

If you want to host more than one website, look at the Deluxe and Ultimate plan.

Deluxe

Godaddy’s Deluxe plan is the 2nd and the most popular plan of Godaddy. The plan is suitable for hosting multiple websites with low to moderate traffic.

Similar to the Economy plan, you get the option to choose your operating system i.e Linux or Windows.

The plan offers a good uptime and the overall speed is decent enough for low to moderate traffic websites.

If you own a couple of websites or planning to start some in the near future, the Deluxe plan is the most suitable one for your need.

Similar to the Economy plan, the Deluxe plan also comes with a resource limit of 1 CPU, 512 MB RAM, 100 Entry processes, and 250,000 Files limit.

Overall, we can say that feature wise, Deluxe plan is the same as Economy plan. The only difference we have found between the two is, the Deluxe plan allows you to host multiple websites whereas, with the Economy plan, you can host only a single website.

Ultimate

Godaddy’s Ultimate plan is the highest shared hosting plan of Godaddy. The plan is suitable for hosting multiple websites that have moderate to high amount of traffic.

You can choose your preferred operating system i.e Linux or Windows.

One of our high traffic websites is hosted on this plan and we have never seen any downtime and resource overuse issue.

The hosting plan offer double resources compare to the Economy & Deluxe plan. With the Godaddy’s ultimate plan you get 2 CPU, 1024 MB RAM, 125 Entry processes, and 250,000 Files limit.

You also get premium DNS, Free SSL Certificate, and Unlimited MYSQL databases with this plan.

If you want to host a couple of moderate to high traffic websites, the Godaddy’s ultimate hosting plan is for you.

If you want to host multiple low to moderate traffic websites, go with the deluxe plan.

And if you want to host single or multiple high traffic websites, the ultimate plan is for you.

This is a special kind of web hosting specially designed and optimized for the WordPress. Unlike the regular shared hosting, where you have to install, manage and taking care of backups of your website, the managed hosting do all of these tasks for you.

But before we jump into the good and the bad about Godaddy, let’s discuss what you should know about a WordPress hosting provider before you sign up with them.

Which Web Hosting Service is Best for Your WordPress Website/Blog?

Now suppose you decide to go with self-hosting your blog on WordPress platform, but then the question is which hosting service to choose out of thousands of web hosts out there? The simplest answer to this question is – One which is good. But then how do you define a good web host? Here are some points which might help you to determine which host to choose for your blog –

  1. Reliability –

Reliability of the host is of the utmost importance. Once your blog starts and grows big you wouldn’t want your services to be affected just because your Webhost isn’t reliable enough. So whenever choosing a Webhost always check for its reliability beforehand by customer reviews about the host or by trying a trial pack if the host provides one. You can get Webhost reviews on their respective community forums, social media or on a site like ours. You should also check the terms and conditions of the web host to know how much uptime they are guaranteed and what compensation they will provide if they will not be able to meet their promise.

  1. Pricing –

There is no point in buying a host which you can’t afford. Always check for the best pricing and plans from different popular Web Hosting providers and choose plans which aren’t too heavy in your pockets. Usually, all web hosts offer multiple plans to choose from, pick the lowest plan at the beginning and upgrade to the higher plans as and when required.

  1. Limitations –

Many web hosts impose limitations on the use of servers according to the plans subscribed by the user. Some impose a monthly bandwidth limit with views limit while some impose disk space usage limits or limit on other resources like RAM, CPU etc. Though almost all web hosts have limits in their plans so always compare different web hosts and their limitations before settling on one.

  1. Uptime –

Though this isn’t a major issue for the big players in Web Hosting business, still you should always check if the web host has at least 99% uptime. Websites being down for larger periods can severely affect your business so it is necessary to get a host with good uptime.

Should You Buy Godaddy WordPress Hosting?

Godaddy is one of the big names in the domain and hosting business. They have a huge customer base and provide quality services for cheaper prices when compared to their counterparts.

Godaddy and WordPress are the two most recognized names in the Web development community. Godaddy has been there in this business since a long time and has around 71 million domains under its name as of now and its hosting business has around 5 million sites under its umbrella.

Around 27% of the WordPress blogs are hosted on Godaddy. If such a huge portion of people prefer Godaddy as their hosting partner there must be something that Godaddy is doing right to get so much attention from customers.

The Ultimate plan costs about $7.99 per month and can give you 2 websites and 30 GB of SSD storage. This plan has a limitation of 4,00,000 monthly visits which are more than enough for a well-settled blog with good monthly traffic. The plan also comes with 1 free SSL certificate worth $ 69.99 for 1 year and ongoing malware scan & removal for 2 sites.

You also get free SEO optimization support with the ultimate plan. The plan comes with an SEO wizard that provides step-by-step instructions to optimize your site with SEO fundamentals to get your site seen on major search engines, like Google.

If you own a blog with huge monthly traffic, you can buy the Developer plan which will cost you around $15 per month, where you can host up to 5 websites in 50 GB SSD storage. It supports a whopping 8,00,000 visitors per month. This plan also gives one free SSL certificate for 1 year which can be renewed next year by paying around $70. All these plans come with access to 1000s of themes and plugins, free daily backups and one click restore and 24/7 support with one-click migration tool and one business email free for the first year.

All these plans come with access to 1000s of themes and plugins, free daily backups and one click restore, 24/7 support, one-click migration tool and one business email free for the first year.

3. Easy upgrades

Upgrading to the next bigger plan is pretty easy with Godaddy. If your website is growing fast and it needs more resources to grow further, you can anytime upgrade your plan to the next bigger plan. Just pay the extra amount and Godaddy will take care of the rest. It is not required to shift your website to the new plan, Godaddy will increase the resource limit from the backend.

4. SSL certificates

SSL certification is very important from the security point of view of the website. Godaddy provides free SSL certificate with the higher plan for 1 year. If you’re using the lower plans, you can buy an SSL certificate for $70 a year. SSL certificates also help to improve the organic ranking of your website on search engines.

5. Security against cyber attacks

DDoS attacks are becoming common day by day, these kinds of attacks can cripple the website and critically damage it. Godaddy, to counter such attacks also provides the users with around-the-clock security monitoring and protection against DDoS attacks too. Godaddy also provides free ongoing malware scan & removal to make sure your website running safely.

6. One-click staging

Staging feature is really helpful for WordPress users. You can make changes to your site and test them in a staging environment before putting them live. The feature only comes with Godaddy’s Managed WordPress hosting, the regular hosting doesn’t support this feature.

Certains benchmarking tests on Hostbenchmarker showed that Godaddy on the Ultimate plan gave upto 99.96% uptime with the best being 100% and the worst being at 94.72%

Godaddy has a very active and good customer care service. Godaddy also provides Online chat option with Customer care service. If you have any doubts regarding any plans or features you can initiate an online chat with customer care representative and get your queries solved.

2 Cons Of Godaddy WordPress Hosting

1. Limited Data Storage Space

Though other hosts also limit the data storage space given to users Godaddy goes to a greater extent of limitations when compared with other hosts. The number of databases are also limited and since each WordPress installation requires a different database you can’t install more than the available number of databases.

2. Custom hosting panel

I won’t say it is a big drawback of Godaddy but some users may find it difficult to use a custom panel as most of the hosting users use cPanel to manage their hosting. The custom panel provided by Godaddy has some limited features only, this is because the web hosting is managed by the Godaddy.

Godaddy WordPress Hosting vs Regular Hosting

You can host a WordPress site on both regular hosting and managed WordPress hosting but if you’re more concerned about the website optimization and loves the speed, Godaddy managed WordPress hosting is the right option for you. The managed hosting platform specially designed for the WordPress and offers lots of features that don’t come with the regular hosting e.g one-click staging, temporary domain name, SSD storage, one-click migration tool, free daily backups and much more.

Is There any Godaddy WordPress Hosting Coupon Available?

Yes, Godaddy provides a $1 per month hosting coupon for the basic plan. Although the $1 per month pricing is only valid for a year, from next year onwards, you have to renew your plan at the regular price.

Which Godaddy Managed WordPress Hosting Plan Should I Choose?

As we have mentioned earlier in this article, you should start with the basic plan and upgrade to the higher plans as and when required. If you own one than one website, the ultimate plan and developer plan are two options for you. We ourselves are using their ultimate plan for two of our websites and till now we have not faced any kind of problem with their services.

Conclusion

Godaddy and WordPress are the two names which go hand in hand whenever web development is considered. This combination of Godaddy hosting and WordPress is unbeatable as it provides value for money and great reliability. If you ever plan to start a new self-hosted blog or want to move your current blog to a different hosting, Godaddy hosting is the best choice to go for.

Wpengine Plans and Pricing

Pricing competitively while at the same time focusing on the numerous features and add-ons is quite hard for any web hosting company in the tough market conditions. Therefore, pricing according to the quality often turns out to be much costlier than the competitive pricing. WpEngine, fortunately, doesn’t consider much for its competition and therefore sets its pricing according to the quality and services it provides. Being a dedicated WordPress hosting company, it cannot focus on providing cheap hosting packages expecting users to host static website and then compensate the profits in dynamic and high resource consuming plans. Let’s take a deeper look into the plans and pricing provided by WpEngine and which one would suit your requirements.

wpengine pricing

You get up to 150 WordPress installs and the ability to customize the plans as per your requirements.

Wpengine Hosting Features and Add-ons

All features and add-ons that come with the plans are specifically created to suit the requirements of the expert WordPress developers. WordPress requires a set of hardware and software features that are quite hard to comply with. Therefore, WpEngine has configured customized WordPress servers that are ideal for all kinds of WordPress websites. You can also build custom WordPress-based API consuming applications with the help of custom API’s and other technologies. To support such development, the company provides all necessary features for developers and therefore goes leaps and bounds on the traditional WordPress hosting platform.

wpengine plans comparision

Some of the defining features included in all WordPress plans are: A minimum local storage space of 10GB even in the lowest priced plans, staging servers to test your website in production environments and therefore create the best solution among the available possibilities achieved through testing. It also comes with transferable installs which help you transfer your WordPress website from one host to another without any kind of server or database configuration.

Wpengine Performance and Reliability

Traditional web hosting companies that provide a host of features and support all kinds of content management systems often tend to falter when it comes to performance in any one of the content management systems. As each CMS has its own set of optimization-related requirements, it becomes quite impossible to configure the servers to support all of them. Therefore, specialized hosting companies fare much better when it comes to CMS performance. You will always notice the difference in page speed and server performance when comparing specialized hosting companies and all in one hosting companies.

WpEngine being one of the most sought-after WordPress specialized hosting companies, its performance and server architecture is also top notch and can easily accommodate any kind of WordPress installation to serve customers in any region or locale. Along with backups, firewalls, server-side caching, content delivery networks and SSL ready server configurations, the WpEngine servers manage to handle any amount of traffic within the prescribed limits without any performance related issues. Let’s dive deeper into each of the aspects of server performance to further analyze the effectiveness of WpEngine.

We tested one of the very popular websites hosted with WpEngine and got amazed to see the results. The Wpengine server responds really fast. See below the screenshot of the test.

wpengine server performance

Wpengine Page Speed

WpEngine fares wonderfully in its page speed result with its average at 1.76s measured with and without the content delivery network. Without the content delivery network provided by WpEngine, the web pages load at around 1.96s but the page speed goes down up to 1.64s when tested along with the CDN. Although the difference is not that much, it becomes highly important when front-end web pages are much heavier than expected. Along with high scalability and resource optimized delivery mechanisms, WpEngine definitely stands as one of the top web hosting companies when it comes to page speed optimization.

wpengine page speed test

When compared with other web hosting companies like Godaddy or Hostgator, their page speed results are often twice that of WpEngine. Even their dedicated WordPress hosting plans along with external content delivery networks tend to take up to 3.8s. This is quite disappointing when it comes to hosting resource hungry web pages with a huge amount of front-end code that could likely take up much time even in the fastest load environments.

Wpengine Serve Uptime and Downtime

One of the striking characteristics of cloud-based hosting architectures is that they can easily scale, transfer data and adapt to changing customer requirements or even during their maintenance periods. Replicating all data across geographical locations often makes it easier for companies to deliver the same content from different servers across the world without ever having to suffer downtime. This cloud-based architecture has been successfully implemented at WpEngine as they proudly announce their 100% uptime guarantee.

wpengine uptime

As uptime is quite a challenging parameter to control taking into factor the numerous applications running on the server along with hundreds of clients and processes that often tend to exceed allocated resources, it still suffers a bit to maintain its uptime record. However, the overall track record of the web host is much better than the competition and is, therefore, one of the highly regarded WordPress hosting companies on the web today.

Wpengine User Experience and Customer Service

An appealing user interface is a must for any kind of web application. With the web moving towards its reinvention, it has become highly important that all web hosting companies also reinvent their backend interface to match for their frontend presentation. Customers no longer want to work on command lines when a competing web hosting company provides a customizable interface to accomplish the same tasks with the click of a button. Thankfully, the WpEngine dashboard is one of the best control panels among all the web hosting companies. It does not use any traditional web hosting application like Softaculous or CPanel and instead manages its own custom-built web content management system. This allows them the flexibility to modify their interface as they see fit.

Without a good customer service ready to take on even the most challenging questions from its customers, it becomes nearly impossible to satisfy customer demands. Each customer has their own set of requirements and often tend to face troubles when it comes to setting up basic or complex server applications. Fortunately, WpEngine has one of the best customer service team who is highly skilled and are always at your disposal. They can quickly solve most problems and often help you manage your server right from their control panel instead of making you do everything.

Conclusion

Over the years, I have used WpEngine to host a variety of WordPress based websites that often tend to break all allocated limits of the purchased plans. However, the instant scalability in WpEngine has never let me down and is one of the best features of the web hosting company. As WpEngine is a specialized hosting company, it costs much more than traditional web hosts but the features and performance improvements it offers are definitely one of the most sought after in the market. If you want to host a small website or perhaps a blog that may not see that many visitors, then you are better off with traditional web hosting companies. They often provide all the necessary features that could easily satisfy your requirements and also cost much less than specialized web hosting companies.

But if you are about to host high traffic websites that would serve a lot of customers or perhaps run an e-commerce website that expects high resource consumption, then you must go for WpEngine that offers one of the best hosting platforms for specialized WordPress installations. Due to its custom setup and configuration to suit its platforms requirements, the company also provides a set of additional tools and plugins that greatly enhance WordPress functionality and performance. You can easily build on the existing architecture and use any of the millions of plugins and themes available for WordPress. This level of flexibility is unprecedented in any hosting company and therefore WpEngine is one of the top WordPress hosting platforms on the web.

The company is around since 1997 & has the largest number of customer base for domain registration & web hosting services. The company offer everything you need to go online i.e domain registration, shared hosting, VPS, dedicated server, managed hosting services, web builder tool etc. Recently we compare Godaddy’s dedicated server hosting services with some top dedicated hosting providers and found some interesting things about Godaddy’s dedicated server hosting services. In this article, we’ll talk about Godaddy Dedicated Server Review & Godaddy Dedicated Server Alternatives. We’ll also mention a coupon code to buy Godaddy Dedicated Server hosting services at discounted prices.

Godaddy Dedicated Server Review

So let’s start with the plans & choice of operating systems Godaddy offer on their dedicated server hosting.

Plans, Pricing & Choice of Operating System

Godaddy offers total six dedicated server hosting plans i.e Economy, Deluxe, Premium, Value Deal, Power Player & MemoryHog. Each plan has been designed for different type of customer with different computing need. If you’re a small player & need smaller computing resources, you can start with the Economy plan & as and when your need grows, you can move to the next plan.

Godaddy Dedicated Server Plans

Godaddy offers their dedicated servers with 4 operating system choices i.e CentOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, Windows. All operating systems come with their latest versions.

Processor & RAM

Server processor & RAM are two most important factor which decides the server performance. Godaddy dedicated servers are backed with up to 32 GB of RAM & Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors. Frankly speaking, we didn’t like the selection of processors in Godaddy’s dedicated server. i3 processors are being used in the laptops more frequently and they are not designed for Dedicated Servers. i5 processors are frequently used in computers and laptops used for gaming. The current line of Xeons are based on the same architecture as the i7, but the basic difference between the two is Xeons are better when it comes to run a server 24*7. Xeons are cooler and take less voltage & has been developed for 24*7 usage. i7 are also good for dedicated servers but we personally prefer Xeons in dedicated servers. We can say I series processors are better in desktop-based computing where high computing resources are required but in servers Xeons win the race.

Hard Disk & RAID

Godaddy offers 2 hard drives in each dedicated server plans. The size of the hard drives varies from 160 GB to 2 TB based on the plans. By default there is no RAID implemented on the server, if you require a RAID to be implemented you’ve to pay $29.99 for RAID 1.

We couldn’t find any option for RAID 5 or RAID 10 on Godaddy’s website. If someone needs more security and wants to store the data in 3 or 4 hard disks using RAID 5 or RAID 10 then Godaddy is not a good choice. I wonder why Godaddy doesn’t provide such RAID facility with their server. I’ve seen that almost every other popular hosting provider offer RAID choices.

Backups

Backups are chargeable. Godaddy dedicated servers come with no backup solution. If you need backup, you’ve to buy it. There are two paid backup solutions are there that Godaddy Offer with their dedicated servers i.e FTP backup solution and Managed backup solution. FTP backups are charged based on the size of the data whereas managed backup solution is based on daily or weekly manageability and duration of retention of data.

The pricing of backup solution is as follows.

dedicated server backup plans

 Control Panel

Control panels are meant to make your life easier. With the help of control panel, someone can perform some of the toughest tasks with few clicks. There are many dedicated server providers which provide a free control panel that they’ve developed for their customers.

Godaddy charge for the control panel. You can buy Parallels Plesk Panel on windows server and cPanel on Linux servers. There is nothing free, you have to buy it from your pocket.

Firewall & DDoS Mitigation

To make your server secure, you need a firewall in place and to reduce the risk of DDoS attack, which is common in recent time, your host should offer DDoS mitigation facility.

Godaddy doesn’t offer any firewall by default. If you’ve bought a control panel like Parallels Plesk you can configure a software firewall free of cost. Otherwise, if you need an external firewall you have to pay for it. Godaddy offer Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall for $ 34.99/month. We didn’t find anything about DDoS mitigation on Godaddy’s website, which is an important thing to be considered while you choose a dedicated server hosting provider.

Customer Support

Customer support is another important factor someone should consider while buying a dedicated server hosting. Godaddy offers customer support by the medium of Telephone (Paid Number) and Email. As per their website the average wait time is 14 minutes but with our personal experience, it is a bit more.

Godaddy claims that the expected wait time for a response to your email is 11 hours, don’t you think it is a way to high. People buy a dedicated server usually to host mission-critical applications and if they need to wait for a response in 11 hours, they may lose a good amount of business.

Godaddy’s free customer support includes the following

  1. Network failure within Godaddy’s facility
  2. Hardware failure within Godaddy’s facility
  3. Setup process failed
  4. Root user password change request failed

You have to pay for everything beyond the pointers written above. Godaddy charges $49.99 for 30 minutes assistance if you opt for expert hand support.

Expert Hands services include:
•  FREE diagnosis
•  Install 3rd-party Web-based software or add-on module to a control panel
•  Database assistance, such as data import/export
•  Optimization of MySQL® Databases and Apache® web service
•  Port changes such as SSH, RDC, and remote database access
•  Dedicated and VPS resets
•  Dedicated and VPS backup/restore (only with FTP back-up add-on)
•  Installation of 3rd-party SSL Certificates
•  Migration of content to customer’s server or Web hosting account
•  PHP/ASP Modules (per module)
•  The configuration of game servers

The Verdict

If you’re looking for a dedicated server to host some small application or mid traffic website and are good at managing servers by yourself, Godaddy is a good option. But if you have a plan to scale up and you think in future you may require high computing power e.g hexacore processors, 32GB+ RAM, SSD hard drives and RAID 5 or RAID 10 for data security, we’ll suggest you look for some alternative.

Godaddy goes week when we compare processors with other dedicated hosting providers and scalability is also very limited. They also don’t offer any toll-free number for support and expert support charges are very high.

Godaddy Dedicated Server Alternative

After checking out lots of dedicated server hosting providers, we finally concluded a web hosting company as an alternative to Godaddy’s dedicated server hosting.

Siteground Vs Godaddy Vs Inmotion Hosting

siteground vs godaddy vs inmotion hosting

Godaddy has become one of the top web hosting companies with customer count in millions and hosts billions of domain names. Due to their strategic marketing efforts and presence in nearly every country across the globe, the company has managed to rake in customers even from the farthest corners of the globe. However, Siteground and InMotion are relatively smaller enterprises who focus on providing excellent service along with a powerful platform for their customers to build their blogs and businesses. Thus they have managed to remain respectable even though larger organizations like Godaddy have faced numerous lawsuits for bad service and disruption of customer businesses.

Siteground is popular for its excellent customer care and it explicitly supports business of all kinds ranging from startups to large organizations. It provides an excellent hosting platform ideal for any organization to build their respective small business store or web application on top of it without having to run dry of resources. InMotion like Siteground supports all kind of businesses and has a robust architecture that excels at hosting any kind of business application.

Plans and Pricing

As shared hosting server configurations consume approximately a definite amount of resources and consumers who tend to consume more are often pushed towards higher plans in virtual private servers or cloud configurations, the price per plan often remains close with each competitor. Unless and until a shared plan comes with additional features that are rarely available in other companies or is very difficult to implement in a shared hosting platform, there is very less difference in the price difference among the plans offered by the companies. Here is a detailed overview of the plans and prices of each of the shared hosting platforms.

Siteground

To support developers and startups, Siteground has effectively created some of the best plans and also comes with additional features that may be required in case of building any type of web application. You can focus directly on running your app without ever worrying about optimization or any other features. However, its server stack is not as optimized but does support major features. It is one of the major web hosting companies and offers powerful hosting capabilities to its users. Some may be disappointed with its control panel, however most of its features are optimized to perform under target requirements. It also provides all kinds of hosting packages but we are primarily focused on its shared hosting plans. The plans under its shared hosting servers are:

  1. Startup: Meant primarily for early stage web applications, it is one of the best starting plans offered by any company. You can host any small web application on top of the server but it comes with significantly less resources for handling bandwidth and users. You will have to upgrade to higher plans if its allotted quota of 10K page requests per month gets exhausted. It is priced at $3.95/month and comes with 10GB storage that can host only one website. For hosting additional websites, you have to upgrade to higher plans. You also get a free domain name when you register for more than a year. Except for resource usage, all its other features like email addresses, databases etc. come with unlimited access.
  2. Grow Big: If your website is getting more than 10K visitors/month then this is the plan you upgrade to. It is priced at $7.95/month and comes with additional bandwidth usage that can handle up to 25K visitors. It provides 25GB storage and can easily help you build major web applications that can run on top of its server. It is ideal for most types of growing websites and applications that are consuming resources at a constantly increasing rate. You can build custom applications that can be optimized with the help of the inbuilt SuperCacher which helps in caching web pages for delivery. Although you can use traditional web caching processes like CDN’s but the provided caching mechanism is also as good. Moreover, the plan also includes a 1 Year free SSL certificate that is ideal for most types of web applications like ecommerce sites that take transactions.
  3. Go Geek: Targeting high performance and development oriented customers, this is one of the most powerful shared plans provided by most web hosting companies. Priced at $14.95/month it comes all kinds of features for suitable for server app development and can assist development greatly with the help of SSH and other mechanisms for deployment. It includes all the features from the Grow Big plan along with additional features like powerful content delivery networks.

Godaddy

One of the largest web hosting companies in the world is also ideal for all kinds of web applications. It offers plans that are ideal for web applications based on consumer requirements. You can easily build any type of major web application but the restrictions on the server resources often tend to restrict you from building customized apps. Here are the details of the plans offered by Godaddy

  1. Economy: Priced at only $4.99/month, it is the beginner plan for users. You can easily build a static website. It comes with 100GB storage and unlimited bandwidth. It also offers 100 email addresses and a free domain name with a yearly plan. All other services are available for extra charges. You can always upgrade to a higher plan. You can only host a single website on the plan which is quite a restriction when hosting simple HTML websites
  2. Deluxe: A bit more powerful plan than the previous, it is priced at $6.99/month. It comes with unlimited bandwidth, storage and disk space as long as your consumption is within the hosting agreement. It also comes with 500 email addresses. You also get 25 databases of 1GB each. If your consumption goes beyond the limits, you will have to upgrade to the next higher plan that comes with numerous other additional features like SSL certificates and premium DNS
  3. Ultimate: Priced at $9.99/month, it is one of the most powerful plans offered by the company. It can easily host all your web applications like WordPress and Joomla and comes with one click setup for all popular web applications. You can run multiple websites on a single plan and have unlimited storage and bandwidth. You also get 100 email addresses along with 2x processing power. The plan also comes with a 1 year SSL certificate that can be used to host any type of ecommerce web application.

InMotion Hosting

Like all hosting companies, InMotion Hosting provides plans for shared, VPS and Dedicated hosting to suit customer requirements. But the shared plan in InMotion Hosting is called business hosting as it is optimized for businesses. There are 3 types of shared plans, each varying in power and features to suit business requirements. The 3 types of plans are:

  1. Launch: Ideal for beginners and business owners who just want a portfolio site. It comes with enough power and features to handle up to 1000 visitors a day. Each user can host up to 2 websites that can consume unlimited space and bandwidth subject to some conditions. Unfortunately, the plan does not support ecommerce hosting due to the high traffic and disk usage that hurts the performance of other users on the same block. Fortunately, it supports all major programming languages and provides up to 300 apps for quick install and deployment through its 1-Click deployment service. The plan also comes with pre-installed WordPress, Joomla and Prestashop content management systems that allow users to immediately start working on their website without any need for setup or technical know-how.
  2. Power: It is a value for money plan and is ideal for businesses that already have a website but want more power to manage their growing users. Users can host up to 6 websites on one account and also deploy ecommerce applications that can handle up to 2500-3000 users per day. If you are using another hosting company but are dissatisfied with their service or if your monthly expenses towards your website is exceeding your income, this is an ideal plan for your requirements. It can handle sudden bursts of traffic while preserving data and bandwidth during low usage periods.
  3. Pro: Meant for the tech savvy developers who like to try and test on the server, this is an ideal plan for all users who want to make the most out of their web hosting plan. As your business grows, the plan grows according to your rising requirements while providing all essential resources for consumption. You can host as many websites as you need and deploy any kind of application depending on your requirements. Moreover, as the plan is targeted towards developers, it supports all necessary developer tools including SSH access to facilitate development. Surprisingly, the CPanel maintains the same ease of user even for non-technical users who just want better resources for their growing website. Unlimited subdomains and parked domains allow users to have full control of their web applications.

Performance And Reliability

In all my years of hosting and running powerful applications and websites with the hosting companies, I have come across dozens of web hosting companies both small and large. However only a few are capable for hosting resource oriented application while maintaining necessary performance benchmarks. Of the three hosting companies, Godaddy & Siteground performance is the best while InMotion is just average. I personally find Inmotion Hosting performance slow compare to the other two and I faced couple of downtime as well with them. While I never face such problems on Godaddy and Siteground. The awesome interface and usability provided by Siteground makes even the tough tasks seem easy. Therefore, if you would be hosting any website that has a CMS like WordPress, Drupal or others, you should definitely go with either Siteground or Godaddy.

Page Speed

I have a habit of running page speed tests for every host the moment I host a website on it. Godaddy own one of the largest data center and use global CDN that is why websites hosted with Godaddy loads fast from all over the globe. On the other hand, Siteground supports Google recommended page speed apache module. Although there are claims of website instability due to the module usage, it is quite functional once it has been properly setup. You can also setup page speed module in InMotion. Therefore, Siteground, Godaddy and InMotion, all are good when it comes to Page speed.

Server Uptime and Downtime

I’ve been hosting majority of my websites with Godaddy. I have been a Godaddy’s customer since more than 3 years. I don’t remember if I ever had a downtime except the one which I had faced almost 6 months back. That was almost 30-40 minutes long. As their data is spread across multiple locations, they can easily provide higher uptime as compared to other companies which is obviously a better feature. However, InMotion and Siteground prove worthy competitors. Siteground takes its server down at least once a month for maintenance and same is the case with InMotion. However, they notify by all means to each of their hosting user, sometimes weeks before their maintenance downtime. If you are running a high traffic website on their server and their downtime interfered with your scheduled high traffic period, this may let you face some problems. However, you can always contact their customer service and expect them to help you in some ways.

User Experience and Customer Service

All three hosting companies provide a pleasant UI interface for managing their CPanel or hosting plans. However, Siteground and InMotion have a cleaner interface. Sometimes you will notice Godaddy links redirecting to unexpected pages while you are navigating through your account. The hosting panel is also a bit crowded as compared to the other two hosts. Siteground provides the best experience of managing your website from the backend. With easy to use options and tooltips for nearly everything, they make website management easy even for beginners. InMotion is meant mainly for advanced users who have prior experience hosting their own website.

When it comes to support, Siteground and InMotion provide a live chat feature that is always at your disposal with a customer service agent on the other side. Godaddy allows you to call them for any queries but often you will be kept waiting in a queue that may last up to hours. Thus if you are a beginner, then you would definitely need help setting up your website. Therefore, Siteground is the ideal option for your requirements. InMotion has a good customer services but them after sales support is only meant for advanced users who know a little bit about hosting.

Upgrades and Migration

All the three web hosting provide enough options for upgrading or migrating your existing website from your existing host. However, you will be showered with discounts and numerous deals if your website is on Godaddy or if you are planning to move to Godaddy. Just sign up you your email, add items to your cart and then discard them. Soon your inbox would be filled with numerous deals all trying to get you on board. While this is not the case with Siteground or InMotion, they do have provide quality service with whatever their plans offer. Therefore, you may either want a good migration or opt for a cheaper migration plan only to face numerous problems with your hosting configuration.

Extra Features and Offers

Godaddy is filled with all kinds of offers and plans for all kinds of businesses. You can sign up for their newsletter and they would keep sending you discount codes and plans to buy, upgrade or migrate to their services. Although the plans the quite attractive, it often begs the question: Which one do I select? The tragedy is that all the codes and plans tend to give you the same amount of resources and features that you would have bought without opting for them in the first place. Therefore, you can opt for a discount code to feel better about landing a hosting plan at half the price but would eventually pay higher the next year while renewing your plan.

On the other hand, Siteground & Inmotion Hosting also gives you a very good discount if you’re a new customer. Although at the time of renewing your services, both of them charge you the actual price.

If you really would like to save money some money, sign up for multiple years in advance.

Conclusion

Although I have been hosting my website with all the three companies, I was only satisfied with the plans and services provided by Godaddy & Siteground. Their wonderful customer support and their easy to manage web hosting dashboard makes managing your website a breeze. Therefore, I would also recommend you to either go with Godaddy if you are beginner or opt for Siteground if you have enough experience with hosting your own websites.

Cons of Media Temple Hosting

As they say, nothing is perfect in this world. The Same way no web host is picture-perfect so as Media Temple. Enlisted are the some cons of Media Temple hosting.

Customer support services Review

To have a better idea about the Web host’s support team’s effectiveness, I connected with Media Temple’s 24/7 customer support team quite a few times while analysis—morning, noontime, and evening. Unfortunately, the Web chat support isn’t that effective as they don’t provide instant support. When I tried inquiring about new project ‘Leave us a message’ prompt window opened.

I did send the query related to GRID-Service and they do send me mail after two days. The question was accurately answered. The only flaw I found in their service is that they don’t provide instant chat support services and they take a long time to respond customer’s queries via mail.

Besides, Media Temple provides telephone support services are even limited to sales inquiries only. For resolution of any type of issues, you are encountering you need to log into the Account Center to send a tech support message.

Paid Migration services

Media Temple doesn’t provide free transfer of website from your previous web host. While other hosting service providers like HostGator offers FREE web content transfers for new accounts and accounts that are being upgraded that require a server move, within 30 days of signup or upgrade.

If you’re not much technically sound and thinking about migrating from existing host to Media Temple, you’ve to pay a fee to the Web Host.

No Support for Windows OS

Usually, some of the renowned web hosting service providers like Godaddy and Hostgator offer hosting provision on both Linux and Windows OS. However, Media Temple provides support and hosting services for Linux platform only.

It is a part of every business. Here is a negative review that we have found on Youtube about MediaTemple but you must always remember that there are many positive reviews as well on YouTube.

Media Temple is the name which most of the businessman think of when to talk about trustworthy web hosting services. The forward thinking and customer-centric services of MT have won the trust of many customers. The customer profile videos on its website and accurate and on-time replies to the customer query on the social media channels show its customer-centric approach.

Hence, this was my thorough Media Temple review. I hope this must have answered most of the questions and cleared all your reservations about Media Temple’s web hosting services. Although their plans are quite exorbitant, but they ensure that your website doesn’t face any downtime and you can maximize your return on investment (ROI).

As far as my opinion is considered, they’re good to go with provided you are looking for managed hosting services.

SiteGround vs Bluehost

siteground vs bluehost

I love comparing web hosting companies and it is my full-time job. I test them on the basis of performance, uptime, speed, pricing, and features and share my results in a blog post like this. Siteground & Bluehost are two of my favorite hosts and today I am going to compare them with each other. If you’re considering buying web hosting services from any of these two web hosting companies, I would suggest you to must read this article i.e Siteground vs Bluehost.

Siteground is one of the most appreciated web hosting companies due to the stability and excellent customer support provided by the company. However, Bluehost also ranks among the top web hosting companies that offer some of the best suites of plans ideal for all kinds of web hosting requirements. Although both of them have nearly the same percentage of market share, their increasing customer base is a testament to their excellent treatment of their customers and have therefore grown steadily to support nearly all kinds of web hosting clients over the years. Although finding the best among the two is quite a challenge, comparing them on various parameters would definitely yield a clearer picture of the services they provide.

Quick Summary : Read This If You're in Hurry
When we compared Siteground & Bluehost closely, we found Bluehost servers faster compared to Siteground although Siteground offers more options for developers. We also searched for real customer reviews on social media channels like Twitter, Facebook etc and found Siteground has more positive reviews about their hosting compare to Bluehost. In terms of pricing, Bluehost has affordable plans. There are some services for which Bluehost charge additional cost e.g Website Migration, on the other hand, Siteground offer this service for free. Overall we found both the hosts are good and reliable but still Siteground has an edge over Bluehost.

Both the hosting companies target quite different market segments and thus their web hosting plans are suited to cater to those market segments. Bluehost focuses on small businesses and clients with increasing resource consumption for their web applications but Siteground focusses on startups and developers who require stable and high resource availability for all their application dependencies. Apart from the traditional support for content management systems, Siteground innately supports and provides plans for WordPress, Joomla, and Magento users. Thus specially configured web hosting servers to run these popular content management systems allows users to build any kind of website on top of them with maximum resource flexibility.

Bluehost on the other hand only provides WordPress plans that are configured for maximum resource availability and thus the plans are ideal for all kinds of users. You can build any kind of WordPress website on top of the servers and then grow as per requirements. Along with instant resource scalability and high-performance hardware, the servers can easily handle any kind of web application on top of their servers. This allows users to build websites ranging from simple portfolio websites to high-end e-commerce websites that take up resources equivalent to dedicated servers. Let’s dive deeper into each of the plans provided by the companies to better understand their ideal use for your organization.

Plans and Pricing

Due to cut-throat competition among the web hosting companies, it is impossible to increase prices in an already overcrowded market. Thus organizations offer web hosting plans in numerous scales ranging from mere $3 a month to VPS and dedicated plans that cost up to thousands of dollars a month depending on the resources consumed by the customers. However, with the recent shift towards cloud-based solutions, organizations have moved on to highly scalable architectures that allow them to provide much higher resource oriented plans at relatively cheaper prices. However, they also provide traditional shared hosting plans that are ideal for small websites. The plans offered by the companies are:

Bluehost

As Bluehost targets the general audience along with the business users, it provides plans that are ideal for all kinds of customers. The beginner plans are ideal for small websites like portfolio website and small corporate website that may or may not incur a lot of traffic while the business plans are ideal for organizations that build their business around their websites. Along with high security and unlimited resources, the plans also come with advanced core level control ideal for developers. Let’s get into the details.

The shared plans are divided into 3 categories namely:

siteground plans

  1. Startup: Ideal for portfolio websites and organizations or individuals that are just starting up their online businesses, this plan is among the cheapest of all others provided by Siteground. It is priced at $3.95 per month and comes with numerous features generally absent from most web hosting companies. You can host one website and consume up to 10GB space. It can handle up to 10,000 visitors a month and comes with all essential features.
  2. Grow Big: ideal for growing websites that are consuming higher resources and have to handle more traffic, this plan comes with numerous premium features that are absent from the previous plan. It includes priority technical support, SuperCacher for speed improvement, free SSL certificate for 1 year along with 30 backup copies of your website. It is priced at $5.95 per month and can easily handle up to 25K visitors every month.
  3. Go Geek: is ideal for powerful websites that need to handle up to 100,000 visitors a month. It includes all the features provided by the Grow Big plan along with some advanced features like Advanced hardware, PCI compliance, pre-installed GIT and staging along with 30GB server space. You can host multiple websites on top of it and still develop core features of your website. Priced at $11.95 per month, this is among the best web hosting plans for any powerful website including high resource consuming e-commerce and transaction-oriented websites.

Siteground vs Bluehost: Performance and Reliability

Comparing high-performance web hosting companies is quite tough. When both the companies provide excellent services, users have to test the servers rigorously for any discrepancies in hosting configurations or service availabilities. When it comes to performance, Siteground definitely scores better than Bluehost as it has a relatively better server architecture that allows users to build any kind of web application on top of it. As the servers are designed by keeping businesses in mind, any website that requires only the simple features runs excellently on top of it.

siteground hosting performance

Although Bluehost is also high performance oriented, you cannot build custom applications on top of their servers. You will only be able to install the provided set of content management systems through their CPanel. Due to the robust architecture and better scalability, Siteground is more reliable than Bluehost. Bluehost allows cloud hosting but its cloud servers are just renamed shared hosting servers that are allocated more resources as per user requirement.

bluehost hosting performance=

Siteground vs Bluehost: Page Speed

Page speed is the most crucial factor for any website. Thus both the companies provide all possible optimizations on the server side to allow excellent page speeds to be delivered from any kind of web application. Each of the companies utilizes extra server side optimization applications to cache the web pages and serve them as per requests.

Pagespeed Test – Siteground

Pagespeed Test – Bluehost

bluehost page speed test

However, the SuperCacher application is way better than the application used by Bluehost to cache its customer’s web pages. Along with the SuperCacher, Siteground also allows CDNs to deliver the web pages in nearly all corners of the world. This makes Siteground websites way faster than Bluehost. In our benchmarks, Siteground performed at 2.05s while Bluehost stood at 3.35s to deliver the same web page. Although you can use a CDN along with Siteground, the caching application is enough to handle all your page speed requirements. A CDN would further improve your content delivery across various geographical locations.

Siteground vs Bluehost: Server Uptime and Downtime

Both the companies provide excellent server uptime as scalability is inbuilt into their server architectures. However, the server uptime is affected by a number of reasons apart from server side resource availability.

Siteground 30 days Uptime Report

siteground uptime

As Siteground allows its users to run their web applications at specific resource constraints, there is hardly any interference among resources due to overuse.

However, Bluehost allows unlimited usage and thus suffers from occasional downtime as some users tend to use more resources than allocated to them.  Siteground thus offers 99.99% uptime while Bluehost stands at 100%.

However rarely would you face such devastating situations if you are hosting a small website But if you are hosting a large eCommerce or web application, it is highly likely that you may run out of allocated resources or even suffer some unavoidable downtime.

Siteground vs Bluehost: User Experience and Customer Service Reviews

No company can make all of their customers happy and Siteground and Bluehost are not an exception. We searched reviews all over the internet and got some negative and some positive reviews about both the companies.

Here are some reviews by real customers

Siteground Negative Reviews

Siteground Positive Reviews

Siteground has had an excellent customer service record over the years. A number of stories are floating around on the web describing numerous instances when the customer service teams went a step ahead in helping their customers. They have some of the best teams comprising their excellent customer service. However, I wasn’t that much impressed by their UI. The CPanel has all the necessary stuff in it but they could have been arranged in a better way. It is sometimes confusing for the beginners and the startup plans at least should have an easy to navigate CPanel. You can build any type of application on top of the servers and the customer service teams would try their best to solve your problems

Bluehost Negative Reviews

Bluehost Positive Reviews

On the other hand, Bluehost has an awesome UI with custom designed panels to help users easily navigate through the panel. All the features are neatly aligned and easy to access. Even for beginners, the panel is easily navigable and self-explanatory. Bluehost also has a good enough customer service but sometimes they fail in solving the issues at hand. But rarely would you face such difficult scenario’s where the customer service team cannot solve your problems. In managed hosting accounts, they tend to monitor each of the log files to help you diagnose any kind of problems associated with your hosting account.

When we searched real customer reviews on Internet about Siteground & Bluehost, we found more positive reviews about Siteground, on the other hand, Bluehost has most of the negative reviews. Most of the people complain about Bluehost’s downtime & long wait on phone/chat support.

Conclusion

Bluehost has competed against most of the top web hosting companies and has still managed to occupy a significant number of customers under its hosting plans. Although Siteground has a powerful server architecture, it has had limited competition with industry giants. Both Siteground and Bluehost provide cloud hosting plans that allows their users to scale as much as they require and then upgrade to higher plans if their resource consumption remains constant for a period. But in the end, the advanced server architecture of Siteground helps it attain better performance benchmarks than Bluehost. Thus if you are a business organization, you should go with Siteground otherwise, Bluehost would be ideal for your requirements.

eWebguru Review

ewebguru revieweWebguru Review 2018: Today I want to share my very personal experience with the eWebguru support team. I’m writing this eWebguru Review based on my recent experience with them. Before I go in details let me tell you, I’m a customer of eWebguru since last close to 1 year from now. I bought a shared web hosting pack (Bronze Plan) from them to host one of my WordPress blogs. When I bought the pack my WordPress blog was running a bit slow so I contacted their support team and as per their suggestion I raised a troubled ticket for the same. That was my very first interaction with their support team, and without calling them even once, they transferred my blog to a new server and my issue was resolved. Since then my blog was running fine with them.  After using their hosting services without any problem for the last eight months, I decided to host my next blog with them and thus I upgraded my subscription to Silver Plan.

Update-June 2015: I’ve moved my website from eWebGuru to Hostpapa. I was facing slow server issue since past few months and the eWebGuru team was unable to rectify it. I also raised some tickets about my problem but they didn’t take it seriously and didn’t give me satisfactory answers. Hostpapa gives me hosting for only INR 99 per month i.e $2 per month with a free domain for life. You can also get this deal from here.

The Problem I Faced

Everything was working fine until I not installed the WordPress for my new domain name which I wanted to host with them. I was installing the WordPress using cpanel. Every time I try to install WordPress using Fantastico, the installation got failed. I was worried how to go about as I’m not a technical guy.

I contacted their support team over the chat. They suggest me to raise a trouble ticket for the same. Without any delay, Ii raised a trouble ticket.

eWebguru Response Time on Trouble Ticket

I was surprised to see the response time. I got a reply on my ticket in less than half an hour. Usually, in my experience, other web hosts take up to 4 hours to reply to a ticket.  I got the following reply from them.

kindly check your wp-config.php file and correct your connection string according to your database username and password.

As I’ve already mentioned above that I’m not a technical guy so I requested them to take care of the job, and I reply the same on the trouble ticket.

Note: I haven’t contacted them over the phone until yet.

In next less than four-hour Mr.Kapil Garg, who is from the eWebguru support team, replied to me that my site started working. After receiving the reply I checked the site and it was working fine.

The Real Big Problem

The real problem started when I found that my main site which I was hosting with them since last 8 month stopped working. It happened just after my problem was resolved. It was 10 P.M on Saturday, I reported the problem to the eWebguru support team. The way they took this problem was remarkable. Their support team guy Mr. Kapil Garg started working on my site & worked on it until next one hour and finally made my site live again before 11 P.M.

I have never seen this kind of proactive response from a support team of any other hosting provider.

The Verdict

The main work of a web host is to provide you a server space where you can host your website. Managing third-party applications like WordPress doesn’t come under their KRA. But still eWebguru take the job very professionally & make me super happy. If you’re looking for buying a hosting service & concern about customer support. eWebguru is really recommended from my side.  Let me know how do you like my eWebguru Review. Over to you.
