eHost vs Bluehost vs Godaddy Web Hosting Comparison

ehost vs bluehost vs godaddy

When you’re exploring different options online for website hosting solutions, it does happens quite a few numbers of times that you stumble across myriad possibilities. Well, a few months back even I found myself in the same kind of situation and believe me felt like crazy as was confused after browsing through different options. Definitely, it is an overwhelming process wherein you see all service providers are rendering services and solutions in similar lines and figure out which one would be the best deal for you. Actually, I too find it pretty challenging to choose between these hosting giants’ eHost, Bluehost, and Godaddy

You see, I had to profoundly dig into various resources online to get a perfect picture about the services offered by these service providers and choose one out of them. They say, ‘Deep research and dedicated work only helps you pulling off really well in times of confusion’.

After all, affiliating with a dependable service provider is without a doubt crucial. You can’t just pick any web host as it can have powerful scores of bearing on your business, which is definitely incorrigible.

Through this post, I would like to highlight on some of the key aspects that you can consider before deciding between eHost, Bluehost, and Godaddy – as your service provider. Let’s get on the track with a brief overview of these three service providers.

Brief introduction-

Godaddy journey as a web hosting service provider

GoDaddy was introduced in the market by Bob Parsons. Formerly to GoDaddy, Parsons operated his financial software services company patented as “Parsons Technology, Inc.” to Intuit. In 1997, after stepping down from work Parsons announced the inauguration of Jomax Technologies, which later transformed into today’s GoDaddy Group Inc. GoDaddy was funded by leading scheme capital funds from KKR, Silver Lake, and Technology Crossover Ventures.

GoDaddy is a publicly-owned Internet domain registrar and widely held website hosting service provider. As per the evaluations of January 2017, it has been publicized that GoDaddy is alleged to have over and above 61 million domain names efficaciously running, thus making it the world’s leading ICANN-qualified registrar. It tailors to the requirements of more than 14 million clienteles and has a worker strength more than 4,000 people. Isn’t that remarkable figure?

The enterprise has been acknowledged as a benefactor of NASCAR a postseason college football bowl game. On top of domain registration and hosting contributions, GoDaddy also runs e-business linked software and services.

eHost journey as a web hosting service provider

eHost is the leading brand that operates under the brand name of the Endurance International Group, which  is one of the world’s biggest web hosting companies operating successfully over sixty different hosting brands under its flagship. EIG, in the beginning, originated as BizLand, but then with the passage of time hit the road purchasing smaller web hosting businesses to broaden their customer base. At the moment, they possess some of the most purported and widely held hosting companies in addition to eHost such as BlueHost and HostGator.

Bluehost journey as a web hosting service provider

Bluehost is yet another web hosting company like eHost that runs under the flagship brand of the Endurance International Group. It is one of the 20 leading web hosts, jointly hosting well over 1.9+ million domains along with its subsidiary companies, including HostMonster, FastDomain, and iPage.

Matt Heaton was encouraged to kick start Bluehost in 1996 when he was busy gauging the web statistics program project of his own conception and realised that web hosting services are so much sought after. He understood web hosts could propose more space and be more expedient to use, and he set out to a resolution that, creating two other web hosts, and, before finally introducing Bluehost in 2003. In 2010, BlueHost was acquired by Endurance International Group (as we mentioned above).

Going forward, let’s have a general idea about the featured services and hot deals offered by these service providers:

Lucrative deals –

Godaddy has created a special page for deals. I was surprised to see the different types of deals presented by the service provider. Let’s have a look at each deal one by one:

  1. Now get domain + website+ email just for $1/month. Isn’t it a good deal?
  2. You can avail up to 50% off on web hosting services starting at $1 per month.
  3. You can even save up to 74% on website builder and the annual plan includes hosting and free domain as well.
  4. Now you can save 50% on purchase of Premium SSL Certificates.

Let’s see what eHost has to offer to the clienteles:

They are at the moment presenting the customers with a 50% promotional preliminary offer, in which the company is proposing their shared hosting plan for only $2.75 per month with FREE DOMAIN, to be paid on a one-year term basis. Isn’t that a great deal to go ahead with?

Probably Godaddy is offering hosting services for more, yet if you try to equate both, straight away you will get to distinguish the actual difference and will think about going ahead with eHost. No doubt Godaddy is a renowned name in the hosting industry, but that doesn’t mean service providers like eHost can’t provide better hosting solutions.

The company is offering web hosting services starting at $3.45/month. See Bluehost Coupon.

In terms of deals, if you see then I would definitely like to go ahead with eHost as they are offering reliable hosting services along with numerous freebies at economical price range. So, eHost is the winner in this domain.

Now, let’s move on to the featured services offered by these service providers to understand which could be a better option for the users:

Domain Registration:

The company proposes to offer approximately around 100’s of domain options. You need to pick one from these options. Needless to say, prices that they offer won’t even burn the hole in your pocket. Quite reasonably priced!

On the other hand, eHost offers a FREE domain with hosting services.

Bluehost even offers FREE Domain Policy that is quite a great deal.

For domain registration, I will say Godaddy is the best option. Godaddy is the largest domain registrar in the World and their pricing is also quite affordable too. For new customers they have lucrative deals.

Shared Hosting services-

Godaddy presents you with shared hosting plans for both Linux and Windows.

Linux web hosting:

The company provides Linux web hosting with the various added-on provision. Best thing is that they keep on running different types of discount offers on different plans. Let’s have a quick peep at the plans they offer:

Godaddy Linux Web Hosting Plans

Added-on features of the Linux hosting are:
  • 125+ free applications. (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Python etc.)
  • 1GB database storage (MySQL Linux)
  • DDoS protection
  • Quick setup for GoDaddy registered domains
  • CloudLinux for a seamless balance of website.

Windows hosting services:

GoDaddy acts as guarantor for Microsoft Windows servers for ASP.NET, ASP, and SQL Server users. Service offerings of Windows Hosting plans:

  • Odin Plesk control panel.

Purchasing the shared hosting plan from eHost means that you will not only get an account but also you can benefit from free domain name and website on signup. You will also be qualified to capitalize on some of their freebies offered by them.

ehost web hosting freebies

Freebies –

Here are some of the freebies that you can enjoy after taking services from eHost:

  • Free Ad Credits– Ad credits worth £100 for search engines such as Bing and Yahoo.
  • Benefit from the marketing suite that comprises of Site Analytics Software, Website authentic seal, and SEO tools and tips without question FREE.

On the other hand, Bluehost offers given below three different plans that you can choose as per your varying business requirements.

Bluehost web hosting plans

Well, the company isn’t offering many freebies apart from a free domain, site builder, and 1 click WordPress installation. It also offers some paid resources like Google Integration, Ad campaigns from Google and Bing.

Here is a tie between Godaddy & eHost. On one hand, Godaddy offers both Linux & Windows hosting options, and on the other hand eHost’s pricing and features are great.

Migration Services:

If you are thinking about migrating your website to Godaddy well then they offer a self-based transfer service. However, if you don’t want to get into self-migration nitty gritty then you can avail the expert assistance, which is chargeable.

On the other hand, eHost do offer transferal succour but that is not FREE of cost. Data transferring from the previous web host is a big muddle on eHost, for that you have to get in touch with their support team, they will create an application for data move for you, and then you have to hold your fire. Additionally, they don’t take the responsibility of the data lost or corrupted at the time of transfer.

Now comes the turn of Bluehost, the company offers paid migration services. You can migrate up to 5 websites and 20 emails account for $149.99

Godaddy here is a winner in this domain at least if you don’t wish to spend money on migration then go ahead with them. Else, you can look for eHost as well.

Money back policy:

The company follows standard refund guidelines in which the amount of product bought from them will be reimbursed, on condition that you revoke the services within the following timeframe:

  • Annual Plans – Within 30 days of the date of the transaction
  • Monthly Plans* – Within 48 hours of the date of the transaction.

*Monthly Plans include all plans with less than a 1-year term (e.g., 6 mos., 9 mos., etc. However, the company provides no money-back guarantee in any of its web hosting solutions.

eHost offers  45-day time span for money- back guarantee that too for managed shared hosting services. If you buy an account with 45-day money-back guarantee and then revoke within the first 45 days of the beginning of the first term (the “Money-Back Guarantee Period”), you will certainly get a reimbursement of your money on inscribed request to their support team after 90 days of the cessation or annulment appeal. Another significant point to note is that they reimburse money for basic shared hosting services and will not take into account the managerial fees, installation fees for custom software or other arrangement and added services fees.

The advertising price is for the first tenure only and plans to reintroduce at the fixed rate. If you decide your account does not adequately meet your requirements, you can revoke at any time for a reimbursement as follows.

  • If you terminate within 30 days you will get a complete repayment on your hosting service.
  • If you revoke after 30 days you will get a prorated refund for the rest of your hosting term.

If you register a domain with Bluehost when registering then the domain fee won’t be refundable. This not only covers their costs, but they assure you that you won’t lose your domain name. You’ll be permitted to transfer it (after obligatory lock periods). You keep possession of your domain till the end of its registration period lest you chosen to prolong it.

The company’s money-back guarantee applies to hosting plans, but isn’t applicable on most add-on products, such as domains, given the exclusive nature of their expenditures.

Bluehost is the true winner in this regards.

Data Security

Godaddy :

The company makes use of security procedures to defend against the forfeiture, fiddling or amendment of the information.  They encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

Ehost :

eHost makes use of technical security procedures to avoid the loss, misappropriation, changing or unsanctioned revelation of data under our regulation. Such safety actions include but are not restricted to physical, electronic and administrative techniques to shield the information. All confidential information is collected on a secure server and data is secured using Secure Sockets Layer (“SSL”) technology. They follow commonly recognized standards to defend the personal information, both during diffusion and once they receive it.

Bluehost :

Bluehost’s security provisions are really good, presenting tools that contest some of the most common website jeopardies. For instance, you can avert spam with highly advanced tools like SpamAssassin, Spam Experts, and Spam Hammer. They provision CloudFlare, which supports thwart galling DDoS outbreaks that can force your website face downtime with a devastating amount of traffic from varied sources.

They also facilitate the user with hot link fortification (averting people from pilfering your images or sensitive content), IP address prohibits filibustering tricky entities and SSH gets into for secure web sessions.

Here, Bluehost is  a clear winner.

Network Uptime:

Godaddy :

Network uptime is one of the most critical aspects of any business as no one wants to lose sales opportunity due to slow loading of website or prolonged downtime. Luckily, GoDaddy is quite an unfailing service partner and always makes a point to provide up to 99.9% guaranteed uptime. Customer websites are backed up at predefined interims, in tandem with complete backups on an abridged amount of recurrent basis. GoDaddy asserts on the very fact that the backups are put in storage away from the data centre in case of any anomalies onsite.

Godaddy Server Uptime

eHost :

eHost holds the potentials to offer  99.9% of guaranteed uptime. To explore whether the company is really accomplishing the possibilities as vouched for on their website, I administered few websites hosted on servers and their results were reasonable. Below is the screenshot of the uptime for last 30 days. It clearly demonstrations that the uptime offered by the company is pretty good. During the month it offered 100% uptime which is really good.

eHost Server History

Bluehost :

Bluehost’s uptime comes in at industry standard (99.94%). As per the estimated research on them, it was found that they only tend to have 5 hours of downtime. The downtime was majorly seen in the month of February this year. Bluehost alleged that they had numerous DDos attack on the road to their servers. Largely, not perfect, but not very bad either. I’d say it’s strongly above the mediocre which is somewhere around 99.90%.

It’s a tie for all here.

Customer support services:

Godaddy :

Indeed, Godaddy is an established and well-known name in the hosting industry but I was a bit stunned to discover that – they have strong telephone customer support services and not the live chat support. Here is a succinct of my individual experience:

Telephone support

I tried calling them on a weekday on given support number and had a conversation with their customer service executive he instantly fixed the issue within some time. I asked him about the Windows and WordPress hosting services, and my experience was really worthy. Their executives do have the painstaking knowledge and assist you in choosing the right service plan.

Live Chat support

When it comes to live chat support services, sadly speaking there wasn’t any such kind of provision available. It’s startling actually as how such a big name in the industry could don’t bother to offer live chat support provision.

Let’s delve into what Godaddy’s customer has to say about them:

“We ourselves are Godaddy customers since 2013 and we use Godaddy web hosting services to host most of our websites. I must say their support team is real quick to pick up your call and assist you until your problem is solved. In last 3 years, I have called them only thrice and every time I get a satisfactory reply from them.”

eHost :

On the other hand, eHost offers round the clock customer support services through three different ways that aren’t provided by the Godaddy:

  • Chat support
  • Phone support
  • Email support services

While availing their customer support services at any point of time you won’t feel that your inquiries or technical issues are not attended appropriately. The active team of the eHost is cheerfully accessible through different mediums and can provide you with right info well-timed.

Let’s delve into what eHost’s customer has to say about them:

Bluehost :

Managing over two million sites can’t be a simple job. That’s comprehensible. But making your existing or prospective customers for over 43 minutes (that too during the peak hours of the day) to reach out their support team isn’t really good for a company that is serving the customer in a highly competitive domain. Furthermore, my experience presented long postponements between abrupt rejoinders (making their support services almost pathetic).

Let’s delve into what Bluehost’s customer has to say about them:

Well, here a tie between eHost & Godaddy.

Final Verdict: And the Winner is …

All the three companies are definitely leaving no stone unturned to provide as much as possible options for website hosting solutions and related services, but sometimes due to one or the other reason they tend to go off the beam and displease their customers and lose them forever.

If you are a web host and you are very much aware of the formidable competition in the market, then you need to stay always ready and ensure that you meet your customer requirements beyond what they expect from as this is the key to reducing the customer churning rate.

After evaluating each and every point as stated above, I would certainly recommend people to go ahead with eHost. In contrast, the company doesn’t hold much of experience in the market but still is able to  provide their customer’s way much better web hosting services than other well-established companies in the market. Whether you look at their hosting plan price range, freebies, migration services, data backup support or customer support services, in all domains they are trying to do their best.

Which Bluehost Plan is Right For You?

This is one of the frequently asked questions by Bluehost customers. People who are new to web hosting always ask this question and sometimes search for an answer on the internet. To make your task easy here is our advice to you.

Basic Plan: If you’re just launching your website for the first time and don’t expect much traffic in near future, you can opt for this plan. We usually don’t recommend this plan as it allows you to host only single website and comes with only 5 free email accounts and 20 databases. You should only opt for this plan if you don’t have any plan to host more than one website in near future or you have very small web hosting requirement.

Plus Plan: This is the most popular Bluehost plan. Most people opt for this plan because it allows you to host up to 10 websites in a single hosting account. Most bloggers and small business owners who want to host more than one websites with moderate traffic buy this plan. We strongly recommend you to choose this plan if you don’t need an SSL or automatic daily backups for your website.

Business Pro Plan: As the name suggest it is the most advanced plan of Bluehost. It comes with everything unlimited. You can host unlimited domains, can create unlimited email accounts and can create unlimited MySQL databases. It also comes with some advanced features like Free SSL, Free Dedicated IP, Site BackUp Pro, Spam Experts & Domain Privacy. If you have 10+ websites and want to host all of them in one hosting plan, this is the plan you should buy.

A2 Hosting vs Bluehost vs Godaddy

A2 Hosting, Bluehost & Godaddy are 3 top web hosting providers known for their affordable, reliable, easy to use web hosting services. Most of the time people got confused when they have to pick one out of three. In this article we compared all three web hosting providers i.e A2 Hosting vs Bluehost vs Godaddy on various parameters.

Web hosting companies are now dime a dozen in all over the web. Although most of them are resellers some of them have their own technology stack and server infrastructure. However, maintaining the necessary performance and service along with quality in the highly competitive industry is very crucial to maintain a steady growth. Moreover, cheap hosting prices along with higher maintenance costs of the servers often tend to turn hosting companies broke before they can establish their name or service in the market. Whatever companies remain, often tend to skyrocket their sales over a short period to gain millions of customers and compete head on with the already established giants.

With huge number of web hosting companies all fighting over the limited market share, you may sometimes find organizations that have remained at constant growth over a decade. Unlike their popular alternatives, these companies do not engage themselves with marketing methods and instead focus on providing an innovative platform for hosting along with quality service. Due to the lack of marketing and advertising, the organizations have not been able to gain significant market shares but still maintain their dominance by slowly growing their list of dedicated customers over the years.

Therefore, unlike Bluehost and Godaddy who have gained significant market share through their strategic marketing campaigns and consumer oriented plans and competitive pricing, A2 Hosting on the other hand has fallen back in consumer acquisition and is therefore less popular among its competitors. However, it is now rapidly gaining market due to its consistent quality services and also increasing popularity among its consumers. Let’s dive deeper to understand the various features provided by the three popular hosting companies and find the best solutions for your requirements.

Plans and Pricing

Pricing the products and services in the web hosting industry is quite tough considering the heavy competition among the numerous large and small companies. Moreover, new companies keep on spurring up every now and then to further increase the competition. Therefore, maintaining a pricing strategy to compete with them becomes highly necessary. A2 Hosting, Bluehost and Godaddy provide a variety of services and have therefore priced their products according to their market strategy.

A2 Hosting provides hosting plans starting with the Lite plan priced at $3.92/ month. Along with solid state drives and optimized server infrastructure, the company manages to attract significant number of customers. The next higher plan is named swift and is priced at $4.90/month. It comes with even better infrastructure support along with better features and the ability to maintain high performance applications on top of it. The Turbo is the best and most powerful shared hosting plan with numerous enhanced features like turbo boost optimized servers that are structured to run high performance oriented applications without any server restrictions.   Priced at $9.31/month, the plans are quite cheaper than its competition considering the amount of features included in their configuration.

a2 hosting plans pricing

Bluehost comes with strategically priced plans with features that quite complement its wide array of features. Ranging from the cloud sites to the shared hosting and dedicated WordPress websites, the company targets nearly all kinds of customers and therefore has plans for all kinds of users. However, due the numerous features included, the plans are a bit higher than the competition. The shared plans start with starter plan that is priced at $3.95/month. It comes with a 100GB limit for storage along with 100 email address and 1 domain name, 25 sub domains. The next higher plan is the plus plan is priced at $6.95/month. Godaddy also provides some of the best priced plans when it comes to its shared hosting section. The next higher plan is priced at $5.99/month and is called the deluxe plan. Unlike the starter plan, this plan allows some flexibility and there is ideal for some decent web hosting. The highest plan called the Ultimate comes with some additional features along with the Ultimate plan priced at $7.99/month and is therefore ideal for all kinds of hosting purposes.

godaddy hosting plans & pricing

However, the limits are quite stringent and therefore resource constraints may lead to you to dislike the plans. You can always upgrade to VPS or other higher plans but still the plans perform much worse than its competitors like Bluehost and A2 Hosting.

Features and Add-ons

Hosting companies with less or more customers have structures their plans to entice customers due to the tough market competition and the dropping prices of web hosting plans. The recent shift to cloud hosting along with the introduction of an array of features has let organizations to shift their focus from traditional shared and VPS hosting plans to more flexible cloud hosting plans that allow consumers to expand and contract their resource usage depending on their application requirements. Customers only have to pay for what they use and are therefore more attracted to cloud hosting than traditional shared or VPS hosting.

With optimized server infrastructures like turbo boost and numerous caching services like Cloudflare the hosting plans also come with additional features like SPDY support, unlimited data transfer, data storage, databases and email addresses. The servers also have inbuilt backup storage in the form of snapshots that can be used to restore damaged server configurations at the click of a button. The servers also come with HTTP/2 support to further allow high speed connectivity between the server infrastructures and the client devices. Users can easily build web socket integrations on their web servers to further provide a seamless experience on the client sides of their web applications.

Bluehost with its cloud hosting plans comes with never before seen options and features like instant scaling and resource monitoring which is rarely available in the competing hosting companies. The shared hosting plans also come with numerous features like timely backups, multiserver management and advanced capabilities like SSH access to your server. The servers also come with powerful content delivery networks that can be utilized to further speed up the delivery of static pages. You can also install additional software’s like Railgun to speedup server side caching and maintain necessary speed of delivery in applications regardless of location or device. Additional features like domain privacy and spam protection take the traditional shared servers a step ahead by allowing them to host production ready applications for any purpose.

To compete and gain larger market shares, Godaddy also comes with numerous features and add-ons that are commonly found in most web hosting companies. Some of the most common ones found in most web hosting clients are: email address up to 500 or 1000 along with 1 year SSL certificates that could be used for ecommerce hosting. You can also configure your application to always run through https instead of http if you have opted for the ultimate plan. Except for the ultimate plan, none of the other plans come with SSL certificates. You also get premium DNS features along with numerous other standard add-ons like FTP access, SSH access, access to raw logs that allow users to analyse their server performance and website reliability, etc.

Performance and Reliability

Server performance is of utmost importance when it comes with hosting applications and websites. Therefore, hosting companies have focussed primarily on delivering high quality hardware architecture along with server resources to attract consumers and the same time fend off competition. Among the three hosting companies, Bluehost and A2 hosting compete consistently at numerous parameters over time to excel. However due to the cloud hosting architecture of Bluehost along with high resource availability lends it a better advantage as compared to the other three hosting companies.

A2 hosting provides world class architecture along with its turbo boost technology that effectively attracts market share. Its uniquely optimized server architecture along with scalability and optimization features make it one of the top performing servers among the three. However, the lower plans don’t perform as well as the Turbo plan as it comes with specially optimized servers while the others don’t.

We tested one website hosted with A2 Hosting. Below is an screenshot of the test results. The server perform really good when we ping it from different locations.

a2 hosting server performance

Bluehost on the other hand offers equal performance metrics on all the types of plans even though there are limitations to resource usage in the low priced plans. As all the websites and applications are hosted in similar web servers, all plans perform the same. However, if the user ends up using more resources than he is allocated, he has to upgrade to the next higher plan or reduce their resource consumption.

We tested one website hosted with Bluehost. Below is a screenshot of the test results. The server perform really good, I would say better than A2 Hosting, when we ping it from different locations.

bluehost server performance test

Godaddy puts strict restriction on the resource usage as the servers with limited resources don’t even allow users to use more resources than allocated. The moment the resources get overused, the servers shut down and again take some time to get back up. Otherwise the ram usage exceeds the limits and no additional page requests or data access from the server is possible until the resource request comes down.

We tested one website hosted with Godaddy. Below is an screenshot of the test results. The server perform really good, I would say better than A2 Hosting & Bluehost, when we ping it from different locations.

Page Speed

A2 hosting definitely strikes the chord when it comes to page speed with its numerous enhancements in terms of both server side and client side improvements to caching. Users can also optimize their servers further to increase their server caching through Railgun and though customization of mod_pagespeed. Moreover, the company also allows users to cache their web pages through popular content delivery networks like Cloud Flare etc. With proper customization and configuration of the servers, users can easily build fast serving web pages and applications that make use of the maximum server resources through distributed application deployment and delivery. This level of improvement is hardly found in any other hosting company and therefore A2 hosting is one of the few companies that excel at delivering higher page speeds.

After A2 hosting comes the Bluehost servers that have specially configured cloud caching services along with high scalability that allows users to build and customize their cloud applications as per their requirements. The cloud hosting services take the company a step further by providing the users the necessary customizability to host any type of application. At the last but quite better than more hosting companies stands Godaddy that although has decent servers, doesn’t allow any self-customization to modify server configurations to suit application requirements.

Serve Uptime and Downtime

When it comes to server uptime, Bluehost definitely beast any competition. With more than 99.992% uptime for over a year, the company beat most of its competitors. Although A2 hosting also has a decent uptime rate with 99.96%, it falls back at numerous features like perquisite notifications before servers are taken down, support or any failover measures during server downtime etc. Although Godaddy also lacks these features, its server downtime stands at 99.98% over a year which is definitely better than most of its competitors.

Bluehost due to its highly scalable architecture is efficiently able to deliver the web servers from other geographical locations that have maintained copies of the primary servers. The same technology is used by Godaddy but still they fall short of necessary support during the transition. As A2 hosting lacks the necessary infrastructure to replicate user data across multiple servers at different locations, they are not yet able to deliver low downtime services comparable with Bluehost.

User Experience and Customer Service

A2 hosting definitely shines when it comes to customer service and competes head-on with Bluehost and other top hosting companies. It has a specialized support crew which it calls the guru crew who handle all kinds of support related queries.
